About the System Management Interface Forum (SMIF)

The System Management Interface Forum (SMIF) supports the rapid advancement of an efficient and compatible technology base that promotes power management and systems technology implementations. The group's activities include: promoting global development of communications protocols; identification of appropriate applications; providing global educational services; promoting worldwide compatibility and interoperability; and identifying, selecting, augmenting as appropriate, and publishing specifications. The SMIF provides a membership path for any company or individual to be active participants in any or all of the various working groups established by the implementers forums.

The latest draft PMBus specification, Revision 1.2X00, is posted. PMBus adopters can access it on the PMBus adopters page.

SMIF will again be a platinum sponsor of Digital Power Forum (DPF) 2008-09-15–17, San Francisco, California. Many SMIF member companies will participate.

The Smart Battery System Implementers Forum (SBS-IF) supports the rapid advancement of an efficient and compatible technology base that promotes smart battery implementations. The SBS-IF has developed and published specifications for smart battery systems. The SBS-IF allows for active participation in any or all of its working groups by those who become adopters.


The Power Management Bus Implementers Forum (PMBus-IF) supports the rapid advancement of an efficient and compatible technology base that promotes power management implementations. The PMBus-IF allows for active participation in any or all of its working groups by those who become adopters.
